A Mexican Standoff with Key and Peele

Well, well, well boys. Looks like we got a Mexican standoff.

Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele team up with Freddie Wong for a good ol’ Mexican standoff.

A short story written in 1876 about an American being held up by a Mexican bandit was the earliest cited work of the phrase.

“Go!” said he sternly then. “We will call it a stand-off, a Mexican stand-off, you lose your money, but you save your life!”

The standoff refers to a no-win/no-lose situation. It’s a stalemate situation in which none of the participants can fight or flee without exposing themselves to danger. Who will prevail?
